Reconstructive Surgery

Hello,

I just got my pacemaker at the end of June. Ever since then my lead has moved some. There also has been a problem since the movement of the lead the pacemaker is picking up a different wave now. They said if the lead moved anymore they would need to do surgery and move it back. Since my last appointment they have picked up the different wave even more, so I think it has moved a lot more now.

Has anybody had this kind of problem? How bad is reconstructive surgery, if needed?

It will be nearly identical to the first surgery, a bit easier because you already have the pocket formed now. If the lead is not in a good spot, you have a window of about one year to take care of it easily.

Thank you for the response. Since they will have to go back in so early, does that make it a higher risk for an infection this time?

Any time they go in there is always a small risk of infection but it's no more this time than last. You could ask about an antibacterial envelope, which they put around the pm when they place it to decrease the chance of infection. Can't hurt!
