Everything I have read online has said that alternators will cause a pacemaker to slow it's pacing until it is removed from the alternator. But is it possible for an alternator to make the pacemaker speed up and stay sped up permanently?!?!

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
Don't think so

Was leaning over two alternators while jumping the battery on my daughter-in-law's car. PM when into a test mode - i.e. it dropped into a lower rate as it's programmed to do. I got an out-of-breath feeling but that was all. The feeling lasted for a while, but my PM went back to normal as soon as it was out of the alternator field.
When they do testing on my PM during my regular check up it feels like my heart rate is going faster when it's really going slower. Weird feelings. I've also got APP - Atrial Preference Pacing turned on. It's supposed to create a counter beat when I go into afib. I can't describe what it feels like, but it's a cross between beating too fast and beating too slow with a counter beat thrown in for fun. So, once again, it feels like my heart is beating faster when it's really going slower.
Pretty amazing pieces of equipment - these pacemaker machines.
