Soft Touch helps

by StarWish624 - 2008-05-20 11:05:00

I bought a Soft Touch (see ad on left). It circles over the pc, and keeps the seatbelt from pressing on it. I like it. But the velcro on it loosened, and I was worried that it might fall off as I get in or out of the car. So I put two (fuzzy) pieces of self-stick velcro on the top and bottom, and attached a piece of non-sticky (grippy) velcro to strap the two sides together. I feel better knowing that it won't fall off, and out of the car in some parking lot or somewhere.
I hope this helps. It IS a good product!

seat belts & bra pads

by aldeer - 2008-05-21 05:05:21

I have both and found both to be very uncomfortable. With the seatbelt, it probably matters where you pm is located, but mine did not work. With the bra pad, my best advice would be to try on many bras until you find one that is the most comfortable without pressure on your pm or lead wire. lots of good luck in finding something that helps. Oh, I did find (after reading someone's advice) that a small hand towel folder several times to make a soft pad works very well for the seat belt. aldeer

homemade pads

Hi! I've been meaning to buy to official seatbelt pad, because their ad shows that it was crash-test-dummy tested and helps protect your pacemaker as well as provide comfort.
I have used a plain sponge though, strategically placed under the seat belt to porvide comfort.
As for the brastrap, I bought a piece of flannel, washed it, cut it into little pieces that when folded (3 thicknesses) stickout 1/2 inch each side of the brastrap. I just sewed them to the brastrap and they get washed right along with the bra. I'm not exactly a fashion statement in my get-up, but after 30 years, my husband is used to that about me anyway!
Good Luck! ;~)

Bra's

I am not sure if this will work for everyone, but I finally found a bra that does not hit my PM site and is comfortable. It is from Victoria's secret and is the biofit bra. The bra straps are wider set, but still don't fall down my shoulders. Also there is a bra made my olga that is also wide set. One bra fitter told me that usually the balconet bra's are the best to go with bc the straps are wider set and not hit the PM site.
It took me many times of trying on hundreds of bras, but there are some good ones out there.

I don't like my soft touch

I put it on my bra strap and find it moves and irritates the pm incision.
Not using it.

Padded Cushions

by MariaT - 2014-11-24 04:11:17

After surgery, I needed to use padded cushions on my seat belt. I bought them in the Babies R Us. Then I noticed I could move the strap in the car and now that I adjusted it I don't need the padded cushions! Finally after wearing strapless bras I found Maidenform sells "Silicone Bra Strap Cushions". For me they work wonderful! Easier covering the strap then buying or finding new bras. Looking for bras that didn't touch my incision was hard and exhausing, these silicone bra strap cushions work wonderful!!!!!

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
