I REALLY messed up !!!

I went on my first holiday of 3 for the summer.....I thought I had it all together..and with all your all's help I thought I was ready.......I feel like a fool...I am a grown women...and I messed up !!!1 We went on several tours in DC...and had a great time...the day we went out on our own to one of the Smithsonian Museum's ....oh my gosh before I knew it I had passed thru the security door !!!! When I got on the other side I realized what I had done.....I just stood their and wanted to cry..plus I was waiting to see what was going to happen...I have a pacemaker/defibular.....as far as I know nothing...I am having trouble with my neck...but that could be a week in a different bed. As soon as I returned I used the reader that is connected to my phone ....once a week I apply the small paddle to my implant and it reads it and is suppose to send to my doctor in case their is any problems.I haven't heard anything from my doctor so I hope that means things are okay. I feel so stupid that I would let such a thing happen !!!!!! My next holiday is the first week in June...I am a nervous wreck. I thought I was ready...but if I was I would not make such an awful mistake.I guess I just needed to talk about this...cause I feel like I let myself down.Thank you for listening.

Congratulations! I think what this all means is that you were having a wonderful time and forgot about your pacemaker. This is exactly what you should hope for! Nothing happened so go on and enjoy those other 2 trips you have planned! Having a cardiac device does not mean you give up having a good time. I've had my PM for 2 yrs and have not had problems with security doors and don't expect that I will. And, life has gone on as usual. Take care and God bless.

Well done

I've had my PM for over 6 years, have travelled the world 4 times since and been through innumerable airport security, metal detectors, security doors etc. The only instance of interference I've ever had was when I put my mobile phone in my pocket directly over my PM (not long after I got the PM) - a slight flutter which disappeared when I removed the phone.
I've only ever once have taken the option of not going through the airport metal detectors and that was in Boston in 2004. (I'm an Aussie). Never again - just about had to get completely undressed...
I've also been in some areas with extremely high electromagnetic areas (powerstations, switchyards etc) and nothing...

Security doors

I fly frequently and have never had a problem as I do not go thru the regular security; I go through where the pilots do and get patted down...no wand.

I also go shopping a lot and every store has those security posts and I set them off every time I go thru, but I keep on walking...and no one even looks!

The only problem I can see is if you hang around these security posts.

Glad you've decided to keep your vacation plans!

Hi,

Gosh!! If I had known about all these things when I first got my pacemaker, I may not have done any of things I did. That being, rode (and fell off way too many ) horses, ALL the rides in DisneyWorld, including Space Mtn., and got "wanded" at a Paul McCartney concert! Flew to a number of different locations worldwide... raised a family. too. The point is, no one told me differently that I couldn't do whatever I wanted. So, I just went about my life and tried it all on for size! All my PM's served me very well.
Enjoy your life. Try to go about your life with no fear. JMO
It worked for me! I hope it does for you.

Best to you,

Security Doors

I have never had trouble with security doors and was told to just go through them quickly and don't linger near the scanner.

The only one I was told to never go through was the airport security checkpoint. I was told that I would need to have a pat down to get through security.

I don't think you did anything wrong and your neck pain may indeed be sleeping in a different bed.

Some security doors I have felt a little something as I went through, it just caused a "flutter", for lack of a better description.

I think you are fine! Did you enjoy the museum? I went years ago and it was really a neat place to see.

Take care,
NH

You made it!

If anything was going to happen it would have happened on the spot. So relax and realize that it is very unlikely that going through security would cause a problem.
