LEAD EXTRACTON OPTION

I NEED SOME HELP ABOUT A DECISION ABOUT LEAD EXTRACTION PACEMAKER CLUB!

2 WEEKS AGO I HAD TO HAVE MY PACEMAKER REMOVED ON THE LEFT AND REPLACED ON THE RIGHT WITH 2 NEW LEADS DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING LEAD/LIMITED ROOM ON THE LEFT. ANOTHER EXPERIENCED EP RECOMMENDED THAT I HAVE THE LEADS REMOVED (2) OF WHICH ARE 31 YEARS OLD AND (1) 13 YEARS OLD. THIS PROCEDURE WOULD BE EFFECTIVE AT THIS POINT, BUT I FEEL THIS IS NECESSARY AS I WOULD BE 15-30 YEARS OLDER AND I AM 48.WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

I just had two leads extracted and a new PM inserted about a week ago. I am 57, and have only had my original PM in for 5 yrs. My wires were faulty and I had problems with it. I opted for extraction instead of addition because the longer it sits in there, the more scarring builds up, the riskier the procedure. For me, there was virtually no scarring so the removal/replacement went very smoothly. They did find wire exposure, fracture, and frayed connections on the ones that were removed tho,..

My feeling is if you are healthy otherwise, why carry excess hardware. You will leave room for future wires later in life.

Good luck either way.

You know you're wired when...

Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
