leads

Hi,
Is it possible to have a fractured lead/connection but it does not show up on a regular PM check?
Cheers

it would show up on the report. If it's not connected,it's not pacing. If it's fractured or impeded, it will show in the report. They do additional testing when they change out the device, but they usually have an indication of a problem from the reports.

Thanks for the input. How would the interrogation report show a lead if it had a make/break situation . I presume if it has an open circuit then it would show . What if it only had an open circuit sometimes or a wire that was part broken and the resistance occasionally changed in the lead?
Cheers

If it's damaged, it generally takes more juice to get the signal through so it shows up there as well as impedance.

I had insulation ruptured on one of mine. We knew about it 5 years before we did anything about it, just monitored it. The battery life was considerably shorter, but it worked normally right up until it was replaced. It stayed stable up until the last year, then it took more and more power and the battery life dropped quickly.

You know you're wired when...
