Nearing a battery change

Its been 5 years and the doc says my battery is going to be changed this year on my ICD. It has never gone off, thank goodness!
Do they typically replace it with the same kind, or has there been upgrades in the past 5 years so a different one will be put in?

Bill, the last time I had my pacemaker replaced it had just 5 short years on it, my doc replaced it with a new model that has really held up. I've had it for nearly 3 years now and last July when they checked it I still had 9 years! I pace 98% of the time now. So, yes you will probably get a newer model that will last you for a much longer time. My next cardio full workup or work-out is set for Aug. this year. I hope I still have 9 years! haha

BTW I healed up very fast from the 2nd surgery! As I recall it only took a few days and tylenol for pain easy peesy.

Best of luck to you,
