Tomorrow I have my first post implant appointment. Had my surgery on the 16th. The last two mornings when I have gotten up from bed I have been so dizzy I literally fell back on the bed. I had to sit a few minutes, then get up real slow. Never was dizzy before, I would just get real light headed and just about black out. Could this be a setting issue? I have no clue what it could be..maybe from being so sick after implant? I also have had no appetite since my pm. I am guessing the doctor needs to know tomorrow, but wondering what the experts think. I received my pm for intermittent complete heart block. Thanks!

Hard to Tell

Hi boysmom,
It's hard to tell what it could be, and you'll probably get a lot of different answers from members out here.
My advice is to start writing down anything that you can think of that you're feeling, any symptoms you're having, anything different you're doing or taking since you're implant. Is it only when you're getting out of bed that you feel like this? Is it every time you lay down? Is it only in that room or is it anywhere you lay down? Are you taking any new medication that could be causing it? How exactly do you feel as far as the dizziness goes? Is there any tingling anywhere? Any numbness? Try and think of anything and everything to ask your doctor about. Take your list to the doctor with you so you don't get distracted and forget to mention anything.
Personally, I had trouble with the drug Percocet that they gave me in the hospital and to take home with me. It gave me horrible symptoms that I blamed on the PM. I had no idea until I Googled it, that a lot of the horrible feelings I was having were common side effects of the drug. When I told my EP doc & nurse about it, the nurse said "Why did they give you that? I hate Percocet! It makes you feel awful!" Some people love it, her and I did not have a good experience with it. Are you taking anything new that they gave you in the hospital or after you got home?
If it's a setting issue, hopefully they'll work with you to get that changed. My doctor wouldn't change any settings (other than the one that was stimulating my diaphragm in the hospital), for quite a while after my procedure. He wanted my body and heart to get used to the new way things were running before he started messing with anything. Your doctor may feel the same way, or maybe he'll be ready to start changing them right away. Some out here had theirs changed right away, others didn't.
If it is a setting issue, it can most likely be fixed to where you feel really good right away! I have had good settings and bad settings, and thankfully, when it's a good setting change, it is a life saver! You feel absolutely wonderful!!!!
I wish you the best of luck tomorrow. Just know, most things can be fixed, but it can take a few tries, so just hang in there, and don't give up hope. We've all been there at one time or another, so know you are not alone.
I promise you, this too shall pass, and soon you'll be writing us all back telling us how much better you feel! :)

tell them

As MB said, it could be a lot of things. If you aren't eating and/or drinking enough, that would top my list. Definitely tell them. They can see if the pm was doing anything or captured an episode at those times.
