Hi,
Has anyone ever had a CTA? I have one Tuesday and I am scared. They are turning my pacemaker down to 57 and I have to take beta blockers for 3 days ( i have not yet taken them yet..too scared to I guess).
They say they need my heart rate at 60 not any higher for the test. Well I know how I feel with my heart that low.
I would like any information from anyone that has taken beta blockers for the test only and had to have ther pm turned down,
I will take any information from anyone:) Thank you
Amy

Hi,
I have had two of these - one in Mar 07 (before my bivent pacemaker/icd) and one in Nov. 07 (after my icd). Both times I had to take BB. It is a very easy test. I didn't have any trouble with it at all other than having a very low pulse for a while. They had to give me something extra in the IV to get my pulse lower at the time of the 2nd test b/c it wasn't going low enough. Other than that, it was one of the easier tests I have had done for my heart. They inject die and then put you through the CT scanner. Hope this helps!
