Why does my heart beat so hard?

I'm 13 and just came home from the hospital yesterday after getting a pacemaker for my diagnosis of Complete Heart Block. My left side doesn't hurt really where they cut me, but the most pain I am having is that my heart seems to beat SO HARD that it hurts most of all. I can feel it inside and you can see it beating when you look at my skin. It really hurts bad. What is this and has anyone else had this pain before? I'm worried. My mom is taking me today to see the Dr. again, but I feel like he will say its all part of this. Is it really?

I have had the hard heart beat before. It felt like it was coming out of my chest. My doctor adjusted my medication and it helped a lot. ljohnson
adjustments

They should be able to adjust it so you feel better! It's normal for it to feel really fast (because we were so slow before, normal feels fast for a while) but it shouldn't hurt.

When I first got my PM, various things made my heart feel like it was "flopping" in my chest. It was definitely visible through my clothing. No pain, but just very weird sensations.
After some adjustments, it was much better.
You are so young and I think you are a terrific writer, having expressed yourself quite well; keep it up! There are a number of young people on this site so please know that you're not alone.
Keep track of how you feel and when. The PM will keep its own record (right down to the minute) so you can see what was happening in your own notes + the PM log.
Happy Easter. You are a blessed young lady/man to have gotten the help you needed. Stay in touch!

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
Heart Beat

Your heartbeat should not be very hard and it should not hurt. It sounds like you may need a programming adjustment to your pacemaker....very common and not hard to do.
It's good your Mom is taking you back to the Doctors today. Don't worry, they should be able to help you. Most of us need some adjustments from time to time, especially shortly after the implant. I just had some additional adjustments after 5 years.
Feel better and let us know how it goes today.
