Hi, I had my pacemaker implanted on Feb 3rd for SSS bradycardia/sinus pauses. I had my 1st pacemaker check on Wed - all good. I asked the tech if there was any gym equiptment I should avoid and she said the rowing machine and any weights with the same back/forward strenuous movement. Is breast stroke ok when swimming and aqua arm movements which are like punching forwards/backwards? especially with hand weights?
Any other arm movements I should restrict myself from doing - e.g.cross body reaching?
I'm going to my first activate pilates class on Wednesday after 9 months, a bit aprehensive but so looking forward to getting back to exercising.
Bye

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
Exercise

I volunteered at a charity. We had to move 4x8 sheets of wood at 90 pounds each (40kg). I was talking with my cardiologist about moving sheets of that weight.
My cardiologist wanted me to wait 90 days for the leads to be fully incorporated by my body before lifting that heavy weight. His final comment was to suggest I not move them at all as there was a chance I would exceed the 100 pounds (45 kg) per shoulder weight limit.
You should refrain from heavier exercise for 4-6 weeks while the body grows around the leads. After the 4-6 weeks you should be able to do moderate exercise and at the 90 day period you should be able to return to almost full exercise.
Within the 90 day period I was tossing a ball for the dog. The throwing action really pulled on the leads under the clavicle and it really hurt. Needless to say I had to stop throwing the ball. At the five month period I'm able to toss the ball as much as I want. (No baseball pitch type throwing though.)
Take it easy. If you feel the leads being pulled (and you'll know) back off of what you are doing.
Enjoy your exercise.
