Just curious of how many of us have imbibed the brewskis a few too many and what reactions your heart or devices had. Also if your doctor could figure out on your interrogating which nights you went "livin the night life" so to speak.
I probably had a few too many this weekend, to the point I was expecting a hard core hangover the next morning, but I didn't have one. Wonder if sparky helped in that factor....hmmm.
Anyway, looking for some of the forums thoughts on drinking while wired.

Ian I am of the same philosophy which is basically YOLO. What happened over the weekend to me happens at most three times a year.
I didn't notice anything off, but again I was pretty sloshed, and yes social lubricant is good.
I'm pretty sure my cardio would say as long as it doesn't happen all the time, having a few too many brewskis occasionally is probably sound medicine. I am not on any meds that contraindicate that.
Sometimes I think his quote from a famous movie sums it up nicely "I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special."

All the pm does is raise the heart rate so drinking doesn't affect it. Drinking too much isn't smart but many of us have done it and it had no effect. Unless it triggered an afib episode or something like that, nothing will show up on the pm report.

Ask your cardiologist , on what scientific evidence he recommends that you can have a glass of red only every other night, because there isn't any !!!

glass of wine

My doc also told me to keep up with the glass of wine at night. I suffer from BP on the low side and it does seem to help a bit. However, if I consume more than one or two I get terrible afib the next day. I'm not on any meds to speak of so that isnt the issue. What I have found however is that my doc also told me to drink water when I was having bouts of flutters etc. It helps tons. When you drink you get dehydrated and I put two and two together and made sure to drink a bit of extra water before bed if I had a couple drinks at dinner. It helps.
Noooo booze and meds

I made the mistake of taking half a Xanax with a drink. Big mistake. I had forgotten I had taken the med and later at dinner, had a drink. Half a drink later I was loopy. Now, I make sure I will never ever do that again. You really never know what can happen or when.
I look at it this way....I was very lucky that my heart problem had a fix. Each time my heart paused I was very lucky it started again and now I don't have to worry about that. Why tempt fate?
Step Away from the Downers!

I don't mean downers as drugs, but rather those who tell you not to "tempt fate". I look at it from the archaeological aspect. You could one day be walking along the street, eating a vendor hot dog, when BAM! asteroid falls from the sky and kills you and all your dinosaur brethren. Guess what! Each day is a tempt at fate for us! I spent years hiding from life thinking it would hurt me, my device, or my heart. One day I was sitting in the doctor's office and had asked a question about an activity. His response changed my outlook: "you've got the device to catch you if something happens, it is a friend, not a child...don't treat it like one". He finished up by telling me to live life as I desired, because worrying about it is not going to change the fact it is there. Blunt? Yes Rude? Possibly Real? Definitely!
Get out and live...it's the only way you'll know you're alive!

That is a great last sentence ; I agree with it 100 %.
My least favourite phrases which regularly crop up in posts on here are :-
" Why tempt fate "
" Better safe than sorry "
They always sound like advertising slogans from a Medic alert bracelet company and are designed to increase insecurity in the worriers among the PM community.

tempting the fates
by tammyjk1021 - 2015-03-03 12:03:25
I guess what I mean is that I was lucky enough to be given a gift that allows me to live life fully. My statement was with regards to drinking and taking meds. It was a dumb mistake and I won't be making it again. Xanax and alcohol can be fatal...so yea I won't be tempting the fates again. As far as living life....again I was given a gift that allows me to live life fully and that includes a glass of wine or two now and again.
I believe you took my comment out of context. Get out and live YES. Go be stupid, NO.

Imbibing the brewskis !

Hi Melody Yes your PM interrogators know EVERYTHING about you !
You know when you are sitting next to them, all wired up and they turn towards you with that knowing look; well , what they are thinking is :-
" Wow, she had a skinful Saturday might , must have had at least a couple of bottles of red on Thursday , and I see she moved on to the vodka on Friday.
Hmmmm , she doesn't exercise much but Wow , what a sex-life she's got !!!!! "
Best not to think what they can see in those printouts !
If you drunk loads and didn't get a hangover , it's nature's way of telling you that you hadn't had enough .
No doubt puritanical killjoys will come on here reminding you of the evils of alcohol ( yes we know that too much alcohol can trigger fibrillation, yes we know that alcohol interacts with some drugs, and then there's the liver etc etc ) but I bet you are having a happier life than they are.
Alcohol is a social lubricant and probably lubricates PMs so that they work more efficiently. Certainly no reason why you shouldn't have the two together.
Cheers
Ian
