Why do you have the pm?

Pain is normal as it heals, sudden zing feelings or shooting pains are the nerves knitting back together. If it suddenly gets worse or is accompanied by fever, new swelling, redness, streaks, oozing, those are signs of infection and should be seen immediately.

BP is unrelated to pulse. Nerves can make it go up.

When in doubt, call or go to the ER. Better to go for nothing than tough it out when something is going on.

Why I had to have a pm

by angie1966 - 2013-11-10 03:11:41

I had a 1st degree AV block and Sick Sinus Syndrome The name of the pm is ICD/DRT-D, the company is Biotronik. I went to the ER and the rep for the company would not come and test my pacer because they said they already tested it twice after the doctor requested them to. I called the manufacturer and told them if they could not do any better to take it out. I am in a research with the company and trying out the new leads. My doctor is great but I am having on going issues. I have an appointment on Monday, any suggestions?

icd?

Why would you have an icd for av block and sss?

Biotronik is a smaller company but has an excellent reputation, particularly the way their devices handle sss. How frustrating they aren't more responsive, though in their defense all they can really do is tell if it's pacing correctly or not. Anything else- healing issues, fine tuning settings, etc- needs to come through your dr. I would follow up with your dr today.

Three weeks old?

If your PM is only three weeks old you're still going through adjustment/healing phase. Your body is still ringing like a bell and trying to get adjusted to the new reality.

I was having sharp pains but it just was the body getting adjusted. Also ended up in the ER two times. First for run away a-fib and the second because I talked myself into high blood pressure. The doctors gave me directions for keeping track of my BP and it's been normal ever since.

So, fast heart rate you can't stop, very bad shortness of breath, other alarming signs, punch the button and go to the ER. Twinges, short pain, etc. - just sneer at it and keep on going. I'm amazed at how much better I feel. Got accustomed to substandard living after going 12 years without a normal heartbeat. Now I've got a normal one and have to learn what it feels like all over.

Hang in there - it gets better.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
