Hello every one!
My story: I am 4 weeks post op. I have a dual chamber PM to treat bradycardia and pauses. I have a history of SSS, AVNRT, Paroxysmal A-fib/flutter and up to 15 beat runs of VT.
I had a check up (interrogation) because of my complaint of palpitations that make me feel not so nice (they don't feel like my AT rhythm). I have become very good at ignoring palpitations, but these make me feel pressure up my neck and behind my eyes with significant dizziness that lingers for a couple of minutes. They last for less than a minute (hard fast pounding) and the dizziness concerns me. I'm in the medical field so my MD did not show me anything about my settings because he would like me to just relax and forget about it! Hmm, okay....I'm still trying. He will go over everything with me in three months after I've had time to RELAX.
So the interrogation went something like this:
MD: So has she had an PVC's?
Tech: Yes, 2.9/hr. in 24 hrs.
MD: Did she have any recorded AT?
Tech: No
MD: How many PAC's?
Tech: None
MD: Answering me, you only have an occasional PVC, nothing to worry about, just RELAX.
What are the parameters for recording VT?
Can those be changed based on what the MD wants?
Thoughts anyone?

You have rhythm.

Thanks, I suspect that he might change the average parameters, otherwise he might be driven crazy just like he was when my Reveal was put in. He had to set me at 30 and 165, otherwise I was downloading stuff to him every couple of days. I do find one thing interesting. I supposedly never had VT while the Reveal was in only lots of AT, but the PM has not recorded any AT or PACs but is picking up 2.9 PVCs in 24 hours. Is it because the PM is more accurate?
I'm a nurse, always learning and I am generally curious. At this point other than knowing what type of device I have I only know I am pacing 12% of the time. I know I'm having a lot of PVCs. I just don't know in what manner. I am mainly concerned with the dizziness. With that said, I am getting better at relaxing, or smelling the roses now that I'm feeling a little better.
I try to not fixate but advocate instead. It is hard to forget about it after so many syncopal episodes that could have ended badly. If I had not fixated a little I would still have SSS, no pacer, running the risk of having another episode while driving or hitting my head harder than I already have.
Yes, I want to know what I am up to because if it is time to see an EP I don't want to find out after I suffer irreversible damage. As long as I feel okay I will stop and smell the roses.
