Worn pacing lead

Hello all

I woke up 3 weeks ago with chest pain and light headed, I'm on my second pacemaker I'm 43 years of age and when I had my first pacemaker fitted was in 2001 second one 2011 I've been check out and they found that when I'm lying down on my left side one of the wires don't function as it should been told it needs replacing worn wire, due to me being still very sporty, but they said the pain has nothing to do with the worn wire, anybody else has had this problem thanks john

Interesting... I had my first pacer placed in March for sinus bradycardia into the 30's with fainting episodes and short term memory loss. I have continued to have episodes of memory loss and confusion every 10 days to 2 weeks. They seem to come on when I am sitting and relaxed most often sunken into the couch or leaning over to look at the computer screen.I get a weird feeling in my lower left chest like a buzzer or bubble.
I am very active. ride my dressage horse every day. Have no issues when riding or exercising. I think you might be on to something with a malfunctioning lead. Thanks,!!

Hi Johno, I am trying to find what it is causing my pain as well. I am in my second ( after 11 years) pacemaker it was replaced last January, I never had any problem or pain before. In october 04 I woke up little light headed with some discomfort in my chest. I told my husband about it, through the day the pain become more acute like a sharp quick needle sensation, by 4 pm the pain became more sharp I was shopping I went home at around 6pm then it become unbearable, I felt like someone was stabbing in my chest. We call the ambulance and taken to ER were they did all the test to make sure I was not suffering a heart attack, I stayed that night at the hospital next day they did a stress test not the common one in a tread mill, they gave me a shot that accelerated my heart beat was very weird experience. Anyways they could not find anything wrong with my heart or pacemaker. The doctors think is a muscle skeletal pain, but where? they don't know. The pain went away after a week I was taking some pain pill. Yesterday November 02 I start having the pain again, today I am still with the pain sharp again like somebody is stabbing me in my heart. I am going to call St Jude to ask if they have any idea of if they heard any similar problems. The only thing that my cardiologist told me is that there is a scar tissue were the lead hits constantly to finish my heart beat, could that be the problem? I am not a sporty woman. Please if you find out something please let me know and I will do the same.

Hi,
My ventricular lead is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

I have noticed and seen it on a ECG, when I lie on my left my heart rhythm and rate become erratic, slowing down, missing beats then racing.

Not noticed when lying on back or right side. Strange but I was told nothing to do with lead problem. Not sure I believe them.
