dislodged lead - tying PM to muscle?

hi again. so my dad's atrial lead dislodged 2 weeks after PM implantation. now doc wants to repair and "tie pacemaker to the pectoral muscle"... why does he want to do that? to avoid future dislodging?

The pm should always be tied down, wherever they put it. If it's not sutured down it can drift. It can be more comfortable once it heals if it's buried rather than right under the skin but I have no idea what that has to do with keeping the lead in place! Two different things. The leads are usually not tight so the pm moving would not affect the position of the leads. There is an excess of lead so they coil it and place it behind the pm. This way there is plenty of slack.
