Wouldn't you have to be assessed & get a price from the hospital after they have evaluated your needs fully? I mean the price for one person may not be the price for the next. Wouldn't the hospitals in your area be able to give a price directly?

do you qualify for aid?

I'm pretty sure if you don't have insurance, you normally aren't charged the amount that an insured patient is charged because the insurance companies have an "arranged" fee. A recent Wall Street Journal article was written about a man who needed surgery and had some sort of insurance whereby he had to pay something upfront. In his case it was $20,000.00, so he cancelled the procedure, and with his doctor's help, came up with set fees for the surgeon, operating room, hospital stay, etc. It was around $3700,00 total. So, you should speak with your physician and perhaps a social worker at the hospital of choice. Otherwise, I fear this could be extremely costly for you. Good luck.

If you need the pacemaker to survive...Hospitals, docs and device companies will donate their services and products. Doesn't hurt to ask.

You know you're wired when...

A thirty-day guarantee is not good enough.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
