Early evening I developed pain in the breast bone area and my heart rate (normally 60-63 at rest) was jumping up to 78-80 for no reason. I have never tried the nitro before but did last night. It helped for about two hours then it happened again so I went to the ER where I spent the next 7 1/2 hours of them monitoring me, xray and taking blood tests. They released me with no explain and told me to see my Cardiologist. Today, I can barely get my heart rate up beyond 69 even when walking. Chest still feels a little heavy.
I felt I was going so good, have gone back to work full time, getting plenty of exercise and eating well. Even participating in Cardio Re-Hab.
I have a stent in the LAD, an ICD and EF of 30%.
Anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like...

...they were checking you for:
1) potential heart attack. Blood tests were looking for a chemical created when heart muscle is damaged. You said "Tests," plural, so to me it looks like they were holding you to see if you developed any of the chemical. You must not have done so, or, w/ your history, I suspect they would have kept you in the hosp.
2) X-Ray - singular. Perhaps checking you for dislodged leads or something physical, like a broken lead.
Did you see your cardio today? what did he say?

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.

Don't see cardio until Sept 24th. Day after I go to defib clinic to hopefully get my drivers licence back.
What I can't understand is why the chest pain and the increased heart rate at rest. The hospital couldn't explain it either.
