Thank you everyone for your concern. Inga, your posting was most helpful.
Just to reiterate...I was put on Coumadin AFTER the stroke occurred. (Should have been before - Hah). I had just had a serious operation and of course blood clots naturally, but more so and went to my brain within hours of the operation. That was 13 years ago. That's how long I've been on Coumadin/Warfarin. I was told to take a 81mg aspirin too. As far as Plavix. ...when I had a stent placed last September. I was told these new "medicated stents" - which stop scar tissue from forming over them, require a patient to take Plavix/aspirin for one year. My docs knew I was on Coumadin already of course. But the conferred and decided this was the least risky. Even though there are chances for a brain hemorrhage. Ah, decisions, decisions. So, I'll be off the blessed Plavix in late September. Perhaps I'll feel better then. In the meantime I have an apt with Dr. on Aug 13 and I'll have them check the PM response rate switched on or not.
Thank you all.

I'm so-o-o releaved. I prayed you would be alright. I only wanted to be sure all your docs were on the same page, and I see that they were and that you were right on there with them. All the best to you, Bev

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
Plavix & bruising

You're very welcome, AyJay!
I had been on Plavix for two years, too (2003-2005) and I must say that I had much more bruises back then than I have now being on Xarelto (and before, since 2005, I was on Warfarin). So, when you get off the Plavix the bruising might get better. The Plavix/Aspirin combination nowadays is standard therapy for all heart attack patients - no matter if a balloon dilatation was done, a stent was placed or they had a bypass surgery.
Good luck for your appointment!
