My Battery is getting Weak

I had my first IDC implanted in 1999 and it lasted until 2006. I replaced it with a smaller one. The first one never did shock me until the battery was about depleted. Then, the second one shocked me a month after I got it from just flat footing a little at a festival. Anyway, I think a shock is hell on earth-just like a big horse ran up and kicked you. Mine went off about 3 times and I thought I would die. Now, this same one's battery is getting low. Have to be checked every 2 months. I dread the surgery as the other shocks damaged my hear muscle and I have been in CHF ever since. If I had known how painful shocks are, I would have taken my chances with meds. One guy, I heard, didn't leave orders to turn his off at death, and it shocked him over and over until he died. Inspite of all this, it does safe lives if your heart stops. When God calls u home, though, it don't. I feel weak now. I wonder if the depletion of the battery makes me weak. Good luck to us all to us all with these little monster life savers.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
