What is a reasonable amount of time for a nonemergency, nonurgent callback from the EP office? Going on week 3...left another message today and mentioned that was just really lame. But maybe this is normal?

not normal

I would assume they lost your message by now, probably politely give them a day or two to respond to your latest message then turn into a nag with daily calls.
If I call, I usually get a call back from at least the NP within 2-3 days for non-emergency. When I ask questions at pm checks (only see nurse and rep those appts) it takes up to a week to hear back, it's that long before the pm report files get across the dr's desk if all is normal.

When I first started taking statins I had bad, flu-like muscle aches and wasn't sure what to do, so I called a Doctor's Office and did not receive a callback. The next day I called another Doctor's Office and did not receive a callback. So I decided to take myself off the statins to see if that was the problem......it was. That was over 2 years ago.
Now, the only time I call a Doctor's Office is to make or change an appointment. Hope you have better luck.

...normal practice! How LONG do YOU wait to return a non- urgent, etc call?
If they have taken longer than that, it is too long - for you.

chutzpah

I'd be jumping their case and letting them know you aren't happy. Sometimes these people forget we are paying them to work for us. Yeah, insurance pays for some of it, and yeah they're busy, but you are the patient and dependent upon their findings.
So I'd show some chutzpah and let them know you're upset. Just because it isn't a crisis doesn't mean you should be ignored. They don't have to like you, but they do have to respect you.
Having good information is just as important as having bad information.
Hope this helps.

have answered your own question - your EP does not care about you enough to call you back - or at least have a staff member call you.
I called my Cardio this AM & w/i 2 hrs, his nurse called me back, w/ my file on the desk in front of her.
That's typical for his practice.

Callbacks

By the end of the day when I get done seeing patients and get caught up with dictation. But I care about my patients.
Good ones

There are probably good ones like that in the Midwest. Somewhere. Without attitude. With basic social skills and manners. I can deal with a chunk of metal in my chest and the fact that there was an epic fail in the electrical system of my heart. I cannot deal with rude arrogant condescending MDs and their even ruder staff. It blows being on the side of the desk.
I know...

...one very good, responsive NP in the Mid West. If you ever need her name, let me know.

This on the same day I called the pulmonologist's office re a patient who I can't send back to work because she has problems post MVA with a pneumothorax. They have blown her off for weeks and still no closer to getting her an appt. I explained she is a single mom with a young child who will have no Christmas because she can't work until they see her. Stony silence. Hearts of stone. I finally found her another pulmonologist associated with a different hospital. And yes the Christmas thing for her child is taken care of. Just a little over unresponsive medical offices at the moment.

I could use a real primary care provider instead of treating myself.

After I left a message saying it was really lame to take 3 weeks to get a callback.

Hi Bostonstrong,
I would imagine by now you should have heard by now, 3 weeks seems a bit excessive.
My EP got in touch with me 4 days after my tests to go over a few things with me.
If I recall, I think you were in the market for a new EP, did you find one yet?
