Tingling and coldness in feet and finger tips

My husband had a PM implanted four years ago. He fell in the bathroom and hit his head and his neck snapped back causing all the muscles in his body to constrict. Ambulance workers recorded his heart rate in the 50s. At the hospital his heart rate had stayed low and ultimately he was given a PM. He has had nerve testing and CAT scans of the spinal column with all showing no problems. He does not have diabetes. So one can determine the cause of the tingling and coldness in the hands and feet. Does anyone have similar symptoms? By the way his heartbeat has been perfect--always in the 80s and at the pace check he is always questioned as to why he has one since in four years it has hardly ever kicked in.

How long?

Has the coldness and tingling been an issue since the implantation of the PM? Was it an issue before? If this is a symptom of recent onset, then it's very unlikely to be related to the PM. It's possible it's related to the underlying issue that caused the implantation of the pacemaker, so a discussion with the cardiologist is in order. But it seems like you've been there, done that.

Do the hands and feet turn colors? White or blue or splotchy when they are cold? Do they turn cold or tingle when he gets stressed or nervous? If so, it's possible he has a condition called Raynaud's, which is generally considered more annoying than dangerous. You can find out more about Raynaud's from the Mayo Clinic website (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/raynauds-disease/DS00433) and through a google search.

Good luck in your search for answers and relief.

keep watch

Hi! Do have the discussion about Raynaud's syndrome with your husband's medical care as Jenny 97 suggested. With all the tests he has had, I would think that has been ruled out. There are several neuromuscular and circulatory diseases/syndromes that for even several years patients go undiagnosed with various symptoms. Keep watch for new and/or progressive symptoms. Have you considered medical opinions other than his current care, and are all doctors involved in his current care aware of his symptoms? Does he take any prescription medications or over the counter ones? I know this is difficult for you, also. Take care, and I you post again soon that you have the answer and he is doing well with treatment. Hopeful Heart
