I am what I would call a very young 59 years old man.
However I recently lost my job and seem to find it hard to find new employment.
I did apply for a job but they know I have a pacemeker and seem to be ignoring my application.
Any comments anybody?

As an employer

When I look at a resume or CV, less is more. Tell me the important stuff in as succinct a manner as possible. If you have your medical issues under control, I don't want to know about them. If you took along time to complete your studies, just note that without explanation or apology. If I want further info, I will ask in the interview. The sole purpose of the CV or resume is to entice the reader to invite you in for an interview where you will then have the opportunity to sell yourself. Do not try to sell yourself in the CV or resume.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi!
Do you have to tell them that you have a pacemaker? I don't know what the U.S. policies in this regard are. In Germany you don't have to say anything unless you have 50% or more disability status; a pacemaker alone doesn't give you that status. If you don't have to, and the job you are applying for is not affected by having a pacemaker, I'd probably not be so honest.
I'm 32 and looking for a new job in Germany at the moment. Due to my cardiac history, it did take me much longer to complete my studies, and then things like not having been able to study a semester or two abroad, because of constant health problems, come into play, too. Even if I don't tell people about my heart issues and the pacemaker, I have the feeling that when they read my CV, they wonder why studies have taken me so long, why I didn't study abroad and so on - and then they ignore my application. There are also some employers who want to see that you have done some kind of voluntary work. Now, my voluntary work is heart or health related. Do I put that in my CV or not?
Not that easy, but we've got to keep our head up! Good luck!
