Is it safe to operate a chainsaw

I had a ST JUDE PM2224 PM fitted in December 2012 for a bradycardia condition following a bicycle accident and a couple of brief stoppages. I am 52 years old and generally in good fitness. Back running around 20 mins and still recovering from an ABI. I was thinking of cutting some firewood with a pertrol driven Sthil Farmboss. Will the chainsaw interfere with my PM?

Boston Scientific says its OK

I see on the Boston Scientific website it says it's OK, 'with caution' (which would apply to anyone using a chainsaw!).

What they meant was to keep it at least 10 inches away from your pacemaker - not hard, with a chainsaw.

If you have Rate Response on, the vibration may give you some problems, so be aware of that.

And, FWIW, I've used our small Stihl chainsaw without any problems, and I'm 100% paced. But everyone's different. As you already own the chainsaw, I say give it a try - if you feel weird, simply stop using it, but it seems its unlikely to do so.

You know you're wired when...

You can proudly say you’re energy efficient.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
