Booked in for 1st replacement battery

& I'm dreading it! I always thought they would use the same scar but apparently they don't :-( and not sure if leads need changing either. Anyone else had there battery & or leads changed & have any words of wisdom? Thanks :-)

I have had my generator replaced before but they were able to use the same incision. Not sure why they would not be able to for you, I guess every person is different. They will be using the same one again this time. I have not had a lead extraction but due to soon so I will let you know how it goes. I have had an additional lead placed at my last generator replacement and that went just fine.

I met with one surgeon who wanted to go in somewhere else rather than through the scar. I walked out! I've had 4 replacements now and that's the only time another incision was discussed, all of them have been done through the first incision and used the same pocket.

If your leads need replaced, they would have discussed it with you by now because there are choices to be made how to handle it. They do a thorough check once the old one is out so it's always possible they'll find something then, but it's not likely.

If the first placement was a 10, replacements are a 2-3, much easier because you don't have the precautions that go with new leads and it's all scar tissue.
