I am wondering how my St Jude model PM2110 compares to other dual lead pacemakers. Also does anyone have knowledge of a recall on my model St Jude. How would I find out if my pacemaker has been updated with the new software version. I'm a "pacer" since April 25, 2013 and would appreciate any advice that helps me cope.

recalls

I'm on my 4th St Judes, got my first in 1994 and have been thrilled with their reps. I still see the same rep who was there for my surgery when I got the first one. He goes above and beyond to make sure I feel great and can do whatever I want. We considered switching to Medtronic with my last replacement because they have one with a higher upper limit (220 vs 180) but I don't really need to be pacing higher than 180 at my age, and I wasn't willing to give up my SJM rep.
If there is a recall, they'll send you a letter and/or your dr will call but that's very very rare!
I don't think they update software in them, they replace the whole thing when the battery goes. Mine is checked every 3 months.
How does it compare to other brands in what way? Aside from some minor differences in upper limit and rate response tracking, they all work more or less the same. SJM has fewer recalls than some of the others. There are no "bad" ones.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.

Bob: I Googled & found the following link to a St Jude safety notice. Best I can tell, it only applies to ICD's - defibrillators. If you only host a PM, you should not be involved.
Why not call your cardio & ask? - OR call St Jude & ask them. They will tell you.
This will really make you feel confident - it has been found that most physicians get info on new developments the same place we do - from newspapers, TV & the web. So try them both!
The date on this release is 18 April 2013, so it is pretty current. It only affects 2 ICD models & I don't see yours listed.
You have to copy & past in your address line, but I just tried it out & it works.
Hope this helps.
Don - scroll down for the link - it's loooooong.
