I had my crt-p fitted yesterday and as epected very sore and tired but at least that part is over with hopefully. I had been for about 10 hours without anyhing to eat and drink, my daughter in law had bought 3 bottles which I thought were orange juice, I drank 2.5 bottles as I was so thirsty. I can normally sleep on a clothes line, I was given paracetamol and codein but could not sleep I was given Zimovane but still could not sleep, At 2 a.m.I felt I had gone into Af, I suddenly realised these drinks were power drinks which is known to be the worse thing to drink if you have heartproblems, This morning with the combination of everything I passed out aain:( Iam now home thankgoodness and having a sleep in my own bed, so hopefully will getstrongerever day

It Depends

Hi Beth,
First of all, I'm glad to hear your procedure went well. I hope you get a better nights sleep now that you're home. I agree with Tracey as far as going to the ER if you faint again. I know you mentioned before, that you have a history of this, but still, I too, think you should seek help if it happens again.
But, as far as the drink issue, there are some power and/or energy drinks out there that have caffeine, guarana, and other caffeine like herbs. Some even an alcohol mix, believe it or not. You need to always be careful and read the label, especially if you have arrhythmia or blood pressure problems, as it can increase the rate in both. Others, like Tracey said, are just sugar, water, and flavorings. Just be careful (but, I bet you don't let it happen again!) LOL!
Good luck with your recovery!

Since when are they the worst thing for us? I drink them and have never had a problem. People with low bp are often told to drink them. Unless you got the caffeinated kind and you are sensitive, there isn't much in them other than sugar, water, and flavorings. They advertise electrolytes but in reality have very few. When I want the electrolytes, I drink coconut water or eat a banana.
If you are feeling faint, if you passed out, if the pain can't be managed, please go to the ER! This is not normal.
