Hi! Diamond, From your post, you mentioned pain for your Mum during surgery. If you.are truly referring to pain during the surgery, then, no, that is not usual unless she chose to be anesthesia free. Most of us are in what is often referred to as twilight sleep, so we have no negative recollection of the procedure. If your Mum suffered during her surgery, then that needs to be addressed, the sooner the; better. If that is true or she is in pain now that concerns you, then, contact her medical care. Your Mum is so fortunate to have your caring concern. I hope her recovery goes well. Keep us posted. Hopeful Heart

Diamond, From what you have said, your Mum seems to have had a surgery eperience no one should have to endure. I would start by checking medical records to see what anesthesia she received and how it was administered. If she is having actual flash backs, she may
need some counseling to recover emotionally. Her medical care needs to be made aware of what is going on, and depending on the response, perhaps you should seek new care for your Mum. Please keep us posted. We care, and it is always sad for us when a member or family member has a painful, negative medical experience. Hopeful Heart.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.

We all vary in our tolerance to pain, react to medication/anesthesia, surgeons work differently, sometimes the pm is harder to place than others so we're left more sore... lots of variables. It's common to be on prescription pain meds for a day or two, sometimes at night for a while longer than that. Most are still sore but get by on otc painkillers by the end of the first week. If she's not feeling better than she was a week ago, I'd give the dr a call.
