Just read something that was very interesting and started putting a couple of pieces together. I'm not sure where I read this but I think someone on this board said something about low amounts of Calcium and Phosphorus can contribute to A-fib-- Now I just read
"The major biologic function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones."--so can a low level of Vitamin D contribute to A-fib and possibly other electrical problems?? just made me curious--

I'm not magnesium deficient, and I have afib. Claims that nutritional supplements can cure or lessen episodes of afib and other heart arrhythmias are often made by people who have a vested interest in selling such products. Have you noticed? Snake-oil salesmen and gullible people will always be with us.

There is definitely a link between calcium levels and the development of A-fib , but everything I've read suggests that it is calcium levels which are too HIGH which are the problem. It may be simply a case of calcification of the veins causing the increase in afib or there may be other mechanisms.
.... so loading up with Vitamin D may possibly increase the likelihood of developing A - fib.
Certainly calcium blocking drugs can be effective treatments for afib as well as for high blood pressure.
I am always wary when I read suggestions that " more may be better " whether it applies to vitamins , foodstuffs, supplements or anything else. There is an optimum level for most things and human beings are designed so that a normal diet provides those optimum levels .... in my humble opinion !
