Dropped into EOL mode : (

Well I knew my battery was getting low, (last interrogation five months ago said seven months minnimum remaining), but Monday evening it dropped into EOL mode.

I knew something was up immediately so Tuesday went to see pacing tech who confirmed my suspicions. Interestingly it also showed a lead warning in December, maybe the reason for shorter than expected battery life?

Now I feel rubbish, whenever my PM is interrogated I feel horrible, I think this is due to it being VVI when interrogated? It looks like I'm stuck feeling like that now until they can schedule the replacement. Does anyone else feel absolutely horrible (tight/full chest feeling etc) when they are interrogated or in VVI mode?

Thanks all btw for a great community

Time For New PM

by SMITTY - 2013-04-03 01:04:48

My 9 yr old Medtronic went into EOL/VVI mode on a Sat. morn. and my symptoms were very much like you describe. My salvation to keep from hitting the panic button was I had recently read what to expect when the battery got weak enough to send the PM into self preservation mode, so I didn't panic. In spite of my chest discomfort and a very irregular heart beat I was able to talk my wife out of calling 911, of hauling my rump to the ER. But I was one of the first calls the PM clinic received on Monday. Since I had been dealing with the same folks here for 9 years we were able to discuss what I had going on and they agreed it was probably a low battery signal and I should come in that afternoon. I went in and had the PM checked out and got a replacement scheduled for the next morning. While I never felt bad enough to get worried it was certainly bad enough for me to want relief as soon as I could get it.

Pacemaker interrogation

by francine1 - 2013-04-07 11:04:14

I too feel lousy after pacemaker interrogation. I was at the Cleveland Clinic the other day, first time for a second opinion, wonderful experience. I was speaking to a young lady,22 yrs. old, initial appt for her too. She too expressed feeling of ill health for up to 3 days after interrogation. It must be a common reaction and if you think about it it makes sense. Good luck I wish you well!
