Weird pains - Getting ready for first checkup

Hi all, it has been one week since I got my pm and my first checkup is tomorrow. I think I'm recovering well, but I do have some weird feelings every now and again. Last night as I was trying to fall asleep, I had a pain that hurt with every heartbeat which I could feel very strongly. I tried to find a better sleeping position but it didn't make any difference. It lasted around 45 minutes. This morning everything feels fine. Occasionally, when I either speed up or slow down (like sitting down after moving around, or walking up the stairs after sitting down for a while) it feels like my heart is beating so strongly...it's not pain so much as discomfort and very noticeable. It doesn't correlate to my heart rate as far as I can tell. Is this normal, or do you think my EP may need to adjust the settings a bit?

Hi, just tell them your concerns. I had odd pains for a few weeks but they soon all disappeared. Write down the times it happens & tell them, they will see if the pm shows anything at those times.

Let Them Know Your Concerns

Hi Deppygore,

Like Cropduster said, do make sure to let them know your concerns during your check up so they can check things out.

You may have some weird sensations, odd feelings, etc. for the first few weeks. Some say it takes up to 8 months for your body to settle down and fully heal and get used to how things are being run now.

I noticed things calming down after a couple of weeks. I think it depends on what they did during your procedure, how smooth things went, how often your paced, how different your rate is now compared to before, what issues you still have going on, any new meds your on, etc.

If it's just a "need time to heal" issue, you will feel better and better as time goes by, especially after a couple of weeks. If it's a settings issue, or something else, your EP or PM tech will address those during your next visit.

My doctor waited a few weeks before making any setting changes, to give my body a chance to get used to the PM. Others start making changes right away. Again, I think it just depends.

Good luck, and keep us posted!
