crt-d
Had my crt-d fitted 2 days ago and a marathon 5 hours 10 mins of surgery. Yes you are reading this right I think I broke hospital record. I have cardiomyopathy, LBBB an LVEF of 20% previous 2 vessel CABG. I am hoping this device is going to help with better exercise tolerance as I`m down to less than 40 yards now. Can anybody whether or not it's made a big improvement as this is my last hope.

Big improvement for me

I am very lucky. I had cardiomyopathy, SSS, LBBB and my EF was 24% prior to my ICD implant 4 years ago. Now my heart is no longer enlarged and my last echo... about 1 month ago, prior to surgery revealed my EF is now 50-55% (Normal)!!
Exercise tolerance should improve since your heart will beat in sync now and not have to work so hard. We are very lucky we have these little devices to help us.
Why was your surgery 5 hours long? I hope you are feeling better.
Good luck and keep us posted. Ask any questions you may have here, this is a great, caring and supportive group.

New CRT-D as well

My husband, age 49, just got CRT-D on 3/21/13, AVR in 2002, LBBB and low EF of 10 to 20% prior to implant. We are already seeing improved energy and breathing. Exercise tolerance is good....has walked for 3 miles in 45 minutes a few times since surgery on 3/21/13. We are on a lot of new meds - which is a bit scary, but we hope to see results like Grateful Heart.

The reason for 5 hour surgery was it took 2.5 hours to get the lead into left ventricular apparently slot of scar tissue from NO , it was hard to locate a good piece.

You know you're wired when...
Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.
