questions about 1 week recovery
I am new to this sight. I received a biventricular ICD one week ago today. I have been taking some pain meds and was spacing the last few out this weekend. Last night I was woken by the stiffness and pain in the area of the PM. Woke at 2 AM and took the last of my pain pills and 2 Extra Strength Tylenol. It took almost 2 hours to get to where I could doze off. Yesterday, I got dizzy upon getting up out of a chair and once today. Is there something else you have taken for pain and what should I tell my doctor?

...are you taking????? Many of them already have Tylenol in them & it is dangerous to add extra Tylenol with them. can cause liver damage. This is NOT a trivial issue.

I quit the painkillers after 3 days, I took co-codamol & realised they were giving me palpitations, quit the pills & the palps stopped. I basically slept almost sitting up for a few more days, after a week I was able to sleep normally. The pain will get better every day. You mentioned stiffness though, make sure you keep moving the arm, don't let it freeze.
Tylox

I just looked up Tylox - after my computer crashed during a thunderstorm.
Web said it has Tylenol in it. That is not a drug to be taking extra Tylenol caps with. There is a limit to how much Tylenol you can take at a time & a 24 hr limit, also. That could possibly be why you felt dizzy when getting up.

Thanks to everyone. I appreciate the information. I put a call to my doctor's office.
Replacement

I had my original ICD implant in January 2005. March 11th I had it replaced. The pain you are talking about is terrible for the first few days but then it seemed to have subsided into a dull, annoying pain. My cardiologist gave me Percocet for the first few days then lortab afterwards. I hope that by now your pain has gone down as well.
