implantable loop recorder

I am having this procedure done in Halifax on 30 April. I am seeking advice on recovery/limitions post surgery. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I plan on a couple days off as I am a full time worker.

many thanks

loop recorder

Hi i had one of these inplanted end of 2010 and they are pretty simple to inplant mine was a st jude about the size of a usb drive. they just numb the area and make a small hole and make a little pocket to fit it in its a bit uncomfy tugging and pulling but wont hurt it has no wires so once popped in they will saw you up and after a couple of hours home you go they will show you how to activate the device with a small box you put over the top and press a button to capture your heart rythem when your having symptoms neat piece of kit really. i was a bit sore for a few days after but had no restrictions hense no wires but would say 2 or 3 days off work may be wise. I never went though airport scanners can mess up the settings but wont harm you if you did go through just when i showed my card they hand searched me instead. I hope they find out your problem with it took me 18 months before i had any result but mine was quiet random svt was diagnosed went on to have an ablation which was succesful but 7 month later started with a new problem hense just been fit with a pm 2 weeks ago and at the mo all is good just recovering now. Please feel free to ask me any questions about the loop and i will try help. im in the uk were are you from???
take care

I agree 2 or 3 days it depends where they place it mine was between my breasts and was very painful for a couple of weeks, it was worth the pain it caught all my afib and then I got the pacemaker. I was not thrilled when I found out I had to get it but now realize it was so worth it many blessings hope it goes well

ILR surgery today

To you three wonderful folks who answered my question I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will be in touch as soon as my fingers can tap on this keyboard. No post surgery instructions were ever given so I had no idea what to expect after. I thank you for taking the time. My falls seemed to be in two year intervals, but then I could have two in three minutes with a fainting spell thrown in for good measure. It may take a while for anything to show up on mine as well. So I also thank you for that info.
Be in touch soon...everyone have a Happy Heart Day.

Loop recorder

Hey Sharon, I've had one as implanted as well. Mine was also implanted in my cleavage. I thought it was going to be in my chest close to my shoulder so needlessly to say I was a little upset. I still have a nasty scar on my breast even though it was removed when my pm was placed. I don't want to scare you but my loop recorder was actually more painful than my pm. If you're top heavy it can be very uncomfortable. I would plan to take a week off work. I would also go ahead and purchase some good comfortable sports bras. Preferably ones that have a clasp and dont need to be put on over your head.I wore one all the time for the first two weeks. Even when I slept. It helped me to not feel the weight of the device. I had mine in for almost two years before it caught my heart stopping for 72 seconds and I ended up with my pm. The surgery was relatively quick and painless and I was completely put out for mine. I hope everything goes well. I'll be sending lots of positive energy your way. Best of luck, Abelle

loop recorder implant

Hello friends:

My procedure was done yesterday and went well according to the nurses and docs. Today I am definitely sore; I know I had surgery yesterday!!!! I am experiencing burning sensations more so than pain. I assume this is from nerve endings that were cut during insertion. Did anyone experience that feeling?

I truly appreciate your input. Thank you for the chatter. Happy Heart evening to you all.

Linq

Had Linq placed 5 days ago... Still a bit sore, not liking it so far.  I didn't realize until I was on the operating table that it was going in my actual breast, so still a bit freaked out.  Every morning the bruise looks 85% healed, very little discoloration until I get up and start walking around!  Then new red/purple bruising comes out again.  I put on an underwire bra since I'm a DD, and I think the jiggling isn't helping this heal!  I don't like feeling that there's something IN there.... I thought it was going to be an inch or two under the clavicle, well away from breast glandular tissue.  So, I may keep this just a few weeks or a month or two and then get it out.  Not yet a fan....

I know this is an older post but wanted to chime in

Hi! I found this message thread from google. I was wondering if other folks (especially ladies) had had a similar experience to mine with the loop recorder.

I wish I had known I would be out 2-3 days after the surgery, the doctor made it sound "easy".

Also, I am an avid equestrian, and a month after my implantation, riding still aggravates my device area.

But I wanted to provide an excellent life hack for any other loop wearers out there who spend a lot of time jiggling like me!

There is a sports band you can purchase to wear over the top of your breast tissue to minimize movement and that has helped with with horseback riding immensely. I purchased mine on amazon. I wear it over my high powered sports bra and under my shirt while riding.

The one I purchased is called the High-Impact Breast Support Band - I hope this info can help someone else to wear their device more comfortably!!
