Before i got my pacer in my blood pressure was always very good. After the pacer went in my bp went high and has been since. This is now 7 years. It is controlled with atenolo a small dose 25 m. Anyway don't count on your bp going down. Bowlrbob

depends

Technically anything under 60 is not good, but it's a gray area what's dangerous. Some people can easily tolerate the 50's, even down into the 40's. Others feel awful at 50. Regardless of how we feel, a low pulse all the time, or a pulse that sometimes drops dangerously low, is doing damage to our bodies by robbing the organs of oxygen.

The pm will only add beats when your heart beats too slow. It doesn't control bp, only pulse. However, it's possible that having a regular heart beat again can regulate your bp, so indirectly it may have some small effect.

and athletes have low pulse rates in the 40s but as Tracey says the general rule is that below 60 is considered low. A lot depends of course on how you feel. if you are very breathless on exertion or dizzy or passing or feel like you are going to, then it is too low.

My rate dropped to 35 and stuck there so I was struggling to get sufficient oxygen to the muscles and organs so it felt like I was up at 10,000 feet, Too much of that can lead to organ failure. I didn't have blackouts or feel dizzy though. The pm sorted it and it is pacing most of the time now but I can do all I did before as the pm raises the rate when I exercise.

Wish you well with the implant.

I am not an expert on why things happen with the heart and PM's however, prior to getting a PM in 2010 I was border line high blood pressure....135-140 over 90 or so, now my blood pressure is pretty steady at 120/70. Like I stated earlier not sure why. Hope this helps..

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
