Us 80 yr olds!

What's this 80 yr old stuff. I'm 83 and still going strong. What they didn't tell you is that an ICD can invert the numbers in your age. So lets set 19 yrs, what would that make you. Hmmm, 91? Wow.

Good video. Keep it up. Some of the 20 yrs old's on here need to see that it isn't the end of the world.

Nice video!
However, the way you act in the video seems a bit contrived and insincere to me. All this, oh that's no big deal at all etc. is not very convincing. Your coolness reminds me a lot of my nephews, who are your age. I do not know a single ICD patient who's not afraid of the first shock or shocks in general. Doesn't mean that this fear needs to rule/ruin your life, of course. I just find it very hard to believe people who just had a device fitted that it's nothing; that they don't really care.

I got my first pacemaker when I was 18 (I'm 31 now, so "old" according to you). It was something to get used to. Didn't scare me too much as I was doing poorly before I had it implanted, and started to feel much better as soon as it was in. Nevertheless, having the scar and having every heart beat controlled by this device, needing regular check-ups and replacements was something to digest.

Make sure the rate at which the ICD kicks in is programmed high enough, so that it doesn't interfere with your exercising. There was a Mom in a different forum whose four kids all had ICDs implanted, and her oldest son ended up with a pretty ugly episode of several shocks when exercising - scared the hell out of him. He had run, and the running caused his heart rate to speed up to 180bpm or so, and the ICD was set to intervene at that rate.

Good luck with returning to all the activities you did before the ICDs were put in!
