blood pressure

I am so sorry to post again. My BP was 160/100 at 10am this morning and I called my doctor he said to lay on my left side and check it later. Checked it a hour ago and it wa s162/100. Called my Primary who told me to call my cardio doc who told me to just keep a eye on it over the weekend and call on Monday if I am still having problems. I am so overwhelmed. Sorry just had to vent. I went to a firestatation each time to get it checked.

If it were me, I'd go to the ER

Please don't panic!

I have had that same blood pressure reading before and I take a mild tranquilizer and lie down. Both my cardiologist and primary care doctors have never treated it as an emergency room situation. I did once go to the ER when it was in the low 180's and the woman before me had 200/110 so as you can see it is all relative. If you panic it will go higher.Listen to soothing music if that helps or call a friend to talk.My b/p is usually very good but occasionally for no reason will spike. If I keep taking a reading
(I have a b/p cuff) and if I'm scared it takes awhile to get it down. Once I relax I'm good again and back to normal. Please don't let people scare you.
P.S. If you went to the fire station each time to have it checked I'm sure they would have advised you to go to the ER if they felt things were dangerous. Just my opinion based on experience. I have no medical training.
Rest and keep us informed.
