ICD flutter

My ICD was implanted in March 2011 and to date it has not had to help me out other than pacing. I usually have 2-3 incidents between interrogations but they are not long enough for the device to even make an adjustment much less give me a shock

However, today I felt a fluttering in my chest in the area of the ICD that lasted about 4-5 seconds It felt like a butterfly in my t-shirt pocket trying to get out I noticed others have had similar issues but it seems like it was when their devices were new

Has anyone else had an issue like mine

Vibration Maybe

Could it have been vibration from the device you were feeling? Maybe a warning or notification system from your device?

What you might be experiencing are premature ventricular contractions. These are beats that begin in the ventricles rather than the atria. They can feel like a flutter, jumping our flip-flops. They are bothersome but generally benign.

Everybody has them but they mean nothing. I have been getting more and more of them every day, but my EP says as long as your heart is healthy, there is nothing to worry about. I also get them a lot when I exercise. Your heart may not function as well, but it will return to normal right away.

I would certainly check with your Doc. But I'll bet that is what they are. So, no big deal, just a pain.

I have PVCs but that is not what I felt this time. The vibration was coming from the area where the device itself was implanted and it was just under the surface of my skin.

Batteries?

Is your battery failing prematurely? Go to the Dr. and have the battery checked.
