Hi,
So I have a quick (I think!) question about my recent pacemaker check. I have a Medtronic atrial pacemaker and up until now all readings have been within normal limits as far as I am aware. My impedance has steadily gone down from 1001 ohms to 776 since October 2014 and pacing percentage has gone from 30 to 56%. Sensing has gone from 3.10 mV to 2 with fluctuations in-between.. All of this I assume is normal.
What I was wondering though is could anyone explain what "intermittent but stable P wave trend" is? I've never had it before (and during the pacing check they did the speed up the heart thing but also slowed it down temporarily which I've never had before).
Underlying As regular at 56bpm as well was written on the report - my PPM should keep me above 60 but it might be a mis-type as I know my pacing percentage was 56%?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - nothing ever gets explained at the checks! Otherwise okay, normal palps which drugs usually control (96 non-sustained episodes recorded in last 2 months) and sometimes 'pain' around pacemaker box but otherwise ok.
Thank you very much!
x

P wave

The P wave is the pulse that the sinus node in the atria generates.
And your PM is used to supplement that when the P waves are missing or too slow.
" "intermittent but stable P wave trend"" That could refer to the voltage level of the P wave, the rate of the P wave or the number of natural P waves. No way of telling from that quip.
Some types of reports have different section or heading that define some function. If this is under such heading that might indicate what function of the P wave it is talking about.
Thanks

Thank you. I don't know the heading as it's just written in amongst the rest - they don't put things under sections. GoodDog - I'd still like to hear your thoughts

I think that I may have the answer, but unfortunately it wouldn't be much better than a guess. You really should make an effort to ask your doc if you want an accurate answer. If he doesn't give you a little time to answer your questions then maybe you should think about a new doc.
