Looking for answer

While on a recent trip sitting in the airport, my defib began activating. It went off and continued to activate every 3 to 4 minutes for an hour and a half, a total of 25 times. Needless to say, not a lot of fun. After bringing my heart rate down it stopped, but the best answer I could get from my cardiologist is that the settings were wrong and filters were not turned on. After reprogramming peramiters it won't happen again!
.
I am terrified this may happen again. I never experienced an activation before and it certainly wasn't what I expected. The first 3 or 4 episodes were shocking, but became torture after that.

I guess my question would have to be, is this common? I am trying to look at my options, I am terrified this can happen again.

Know the feeling, I was driving doing 60 when mine went off, 11 times. Malfunction is what I was told. They reprogrammed the settings and I was told "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN". It hasn't, that was 18 months ago. Yes every day, and I mean every day I am scared about it happening again. Never do I want this to happen. I carry a letter with me to Release Liability of the hospital and doctors to turn it off if it happens.

Ouch!!!

handyman, I can only imagine the mental trauma you must have been going through. I am still terrified of it happening again and wake up nights and cant get back to sleep, anticipating the shocks beginning again. I am afraid to travel any distance from home. It almost feels like getting home from Nam all over again. They say give time time. I think I will try your magnet suggestion, thanks

same here i was shocked 52 times

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.
