Another question?! I'm four weeks out and ready to start exercising, however, at my last checkup they want me to be sure I'm not reaching my upper limit if possible. I picked up a heart rate monitor watch and it doesn't work, presuming d/t the pacemaker.
I didn't know if anyone could give me some suggestions on what does work and isn't too pricey.
Thanks again! :)

If you reach the programmed upper limit the pacer will cause your heart to skip beats which doesn't feel very comfortable. I talked my cardio into setting my upper limit to 150 bpm even though I'm 82 yrs. I just wanted it out of my way, and then I take responsibility for keeping it in range. No different than before I got the pacer.
I just use the old fashioned method of feeling my pulse and time it with a watch.

I've been to chain sports stores and high end running stores, tried out every brand out there, none worked for me! They all showed no heart rate because the pm interferes with the signal. Some members have had luck with Polar or Timex. Try them in the store before buying. They may not want to let you but explain the problem, saves a lot of returns.
If you don't find one, don't stress, you'll get a feel for it. I can tell when I'm getting too close to my upper limit. I stop and count manually when I feel like I'm close, if it's too high I put my arms over my head and breath deeply, this brings it right back down, then I get back to my workout. I've been doing this for years now so I've gotten good at knowing when to slow up a bit and pace myself. (no pun intended lol)
You know you're wired when...
You have rhythm.
