Just had my six week check-up and things couldnt be much better. I got my pacer at the Cleveland Clinic and as you know they are a pretty good place. Originally they told me I could exercise all I wanted to, cardio, but no weights. I did it. They said it would take 3-4 weeks for the leads to secure themselves. At 4 weeks I went back to most of my normal routine. They did suggest I use less weight for weight training and do more reps. I mentioned that one exercise, shoulder shrugs, hurt so I stopped. My Doc. said he had one simple rule, if it hurts dont do it. Over the Labor Day weekend I went kayaking and jet skiing. My ski does 55 mph. I took it to the max and was jumping waves. Last Wednesday I played tennis then Sunday 18 holes of golf and 9 more on Monday, played tennis again this Wednesday, did weights Thursday and 20 miles on my stationery bike this morning. I plan on going trail ridding this weekend. I feel as good as new if not better.
By the way Im also 65 and lead a very active life. I guess what Im saying is that even with a pacemaker you can do anything you want to do as long as it doesnt hurt. The only thing you need to do is take it easy with is weight training, go lighter and do more reps. My Doc says he even has marathoners with pacemaker. He said the only patient he ever had who could not return to his full activities was a power lifter. Just too much stress on the leads.
So everyone get out and do it and good luck to you all!

Glad to hear you are feeling good and getting back to life. When they tell me my battery is kaput, I like to know I've gotten my money's worth out of it, sounds like you will too!

I'm down in the Canton area and now go out to Avon. I've been going to CC since 1991 with the same EP. They couldn't handle my electrical issues down here.
I 'm, glad my Doc. moved because the main campus was always a pain with the parking and waiting.
Good luck to you.

Jerry,
I also had my PM put in at the Clinic, and that was 10 1/2 weeks ago.You however are much more active than I,working keeps me from doing too much these days...
Id say youre doing very well,I was told pretty much same as you,and I listened, and have done well.
If you can, tell me who did your surgery and who is your Dr,Im just curious.
Are you "local"?Thats what they all called me while I was there, being from northeast Ohio myself.
Continued success,you sound horribly active!!
