Sports Activities/Follow Up

Three weeks today and I’m feeling great. Had my pacer switched from sensitivity to activity based and it made all the difference. Coached one of my soccer teams Tuesday, 7th/8th graders, didn’t tell them about the pacemaker. I was able to scrimmage with the kids with no problems. However, my boy did tell me to tone it down a few times. Did my stationary bike for 60 minutes yesterday and 19 miles. Was even able to take it up to the max. resistance of 16. I have a Schwinn 150. I usually do cardio 2-3 days a week and weights 2-3 days a week. Haven’t started the weights yet, but doing cardio 5 days a week. Will probably wait another week for weights. I hope to be trail biking again in the next 2 weeks. Have my other soccer teams practice tonight, 1st/2nd graders. My fall tennis league starts September 5 and I plan to be ready, golf scheduled for September 10 and 11. I’ll probably go to the golf range before that.

My Doc said I could exercise as much as I want and as hard as I want as long as I felt OK, and that’s what I’m tying to do. I was in very good shape before so I’m sure that helps. I always thought a pacemaker would slow me down and I know I put it off, but now I couldn’t be more positive about it.

..."Three weeks today", you say..great, but do be careful.

A bunch of really clever people have got this chunk of computerised titanium wedged into your shoulder...give thier work a bit of a chance..

Its , as ever, fantastiic to get a posting such as yours.. full of a kind of energy that just wants to drive on..

Every bit of training programmes include ..REST..,.its up to you, but , this may well be a time to 'chill and wait'.

Try other competitive activities , like how quick can I get down to the shop.

Jerry, i'm not your Dad,..but take it easy for a bit

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
