batteries left in place

Just found your club and have been avidly reading the postings. I am a congentital heart defect (TGA) survivor having had the atrial switch surgery at 14 months old. I got my first PM at 18 yrs and have had 2 more since, original leads still in, just battery replacements. Curious if anyone else have had their old batteries left in as I have three now in various parts of my body. Due to the complex anatomy of my heart the batteries cannot be situated in the clavical area. I worry they will run out of places to put the next ones.

I myself, have never heard of batteries left in, mine have always been removed. I am new on here, so I don't know others history. Sorry but I don't understand "complex anatomy of your heart".
Thanks,
Belinda

not familiar with your condition either. Have had several PM replacements (which consisit of battery) however do still have OLD leads. However, one ( the ventrical) is acting up now for a year and I suspect it will be replaced when PM is replaced in December 2012.
Thanks,
Cecil

I have not heard of this before either. I will be interested to hear from others to see if this happens often.
