I've had a defib for about a year now. I got it put in when i was 20 yrs. i was wondering if anyone else gets a weird feeling like someone is poking your chest on the inside. the doc doesn't know why. i assumed it was running its test. it doesn't hurt its just very uncomfortable. it happens twice a night at 1am and 1:30 am. wakes me up every time. its just annoying and i cant seem to find anyone that has this or knows why.

Impedance Check
by Gellia3 - 2012-09-12 08:09:13
Hi,
Have them do the impedance check on your wires and see if that is it.
They go through an automatic check at a set hour.
Mine was every three hours and would make my arm jerk. My EP set it for 4a.m. when I usually don't feel it.
If it happens at the same time each night, it's got to be a check of some kind and impedance of the wires is a good bet.
Hope this helps.
Best to you,
Gellia

I am 24 I had a pacemaker since I was one month old. I had open heart surgery so.the sternum wires.poke me from time to time but removing them is difficult :( how old are u? It's great to find someone young!! You have a defibrillator?
You know you're wired when...
You are always wired and full of energy.

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
do you feel it during checkups?

do you feel the poking feeling during your regular pacer checks in the doctors office? They should be running all the tests there. See if they can duplicate it.
