Exercising after having a pm fitted

Hi everyone,

I've just had a pacemaker fitted 26 june 2012 and I would like to know how long I will have to wait until I will be able to play golf.

I would be grateful If anyone could tell me,or offer any advice on the this subject.

I would also like to start running again,I am nearly 65 and would like to think I'm reasonably fit.

please could you advise.

Kind regards Bobbyjim

In general 6 to 8 weeks is what I think is recommended. Maybe a little longer. Ask your EP as each situation can be different. Also go to the PM manufacture's web site and there should be plenty of info regarding any issues like how long to heal, what to avoid etc. Good luck, too hot to golf right now :0)

Always check with your dr, but unless you have other issues you should be able to run whenever you feel up to it. All drs vary, but mine says 6 weeks for lifting and restricted arm movement, but wait 3 months for a full golf swing.

Go for it! Get your doctor's approval then don't look back. The PM will make you feel so much better and there's no reason to hold back once your doctor gives the OK. Life is short and you just got a new lease. I do triathlons and race mountain bikes like I never did before the PM.

Great to hear you are going for it

The doc will tell you when you can swing a club and use the arm but for everything else I was at it in a couple of weeks (stair climber, stationary bike, my knees gave up running a while ago). Once the doc says the leads are fully scarred in you should be ready to go. If you are a facebook person check out paced athletes... a group for pacers who still like to work out.
