Protective Gear

Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering if any of you know of anywhere I can get protective gear for my pacemaker??? I play a heavy contact sport and my Cardio has assured me I can go back playing. My PM is implanted under the muscle but obviously when I go back I'll need some additional protection so if anyones knows of any protective gear I'd appreciate it.

You might want to check out: Price Point Discount Mountain Bike Gear. Item #93499, Troy Lee Design BP 7850-HW Protective Shirt, $109.98. You can look at it on their web site.

I am a mountain bike rider and just got my pacer a week ago. Im getting this shirt for my self. I have done lots of business with Price Point and recommend them highly. If you don't like it you can return it no questions asked.

Evo Shield Padded Shirts

I play a good deal of soccer and was worried about protecting the PM from falls, elbows and a shot in the chest. My PM is on my left upper chest. I purchased an EVO shield shirt that comes with form padding. It is typically for someone shooting a rifle. The pad forms fits quickly (follow directions) and needs to be cut down a bit as it is bulky to run with. The EVO shirt is similar to an Nike or Under Armor compression shirt.
I wore this for a bit until I got comfortable and then moved to a normal compression shirt. I have taken a few hits to the pacemaker since then, which are a bit nerve racking but not bad.....probably should be more careful.
Good luck and best wishes in your search!

Evoshield and Paceguard

by DM1 - 2012-08-14 09:08:06

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm curently in contact with Evoshield about possible odering a custom shirt. Both paceguard and evoshield are very expensive which has put me off a bit. But my main concern is that both seem to bullky and awkward?Have any of you used either?

which sport?

what sport are you looking to play?

I have plans to return to ice hockey, but my cardiologist believes my existing shoulder pads should be sufficient.
i have a feeling i'll be bringing them to the hospital for him to see them to be sure before i'm back on the roster, though.

depending on what sport one is looking to play, and exactly where your placement is here are some "off the shelf" protective gears that might be useful to some folks:

if you want something more custom.. you might consider picking up a Sternum Shirt from GForm and cutting out the padding and attaching it in exactly the right spot on a shirt of your choice
