Hi,
Firstly Merry Christmas!!
My 4 year old received a few radio controlled toys for Christmas and I wanted advice on how safe they are around my 9 month old who has a PM.
We noticed one of the toys controlled the other one when they were close to each other & visa versa so was wondering if it would interfere with my baby's PM?!
(Hope all you PM veterans aren't rolling your eyes at my silly question but I'm just not sure!!)
Thanks in advance.

As Blake said, it's fine! Don't worry about the baby, pm's are well shielded. It's unlikely there's anything in your house that will interfere with the pm.
The very worst that can happen is if we get near a magnet strong enough to put the pm in test mode. It feels funky but is harmless, and as soon as we get away from the magnet it goes back to full function with no harm done.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Hope it was a good one. Christmas is so magical with little ones around. My are teens now, still fun but not the same

No way. JO: I sent a comment last night - I thought! After sending it, I walked into the room where our two sons were playing around w/ a radio controlled helicopter. Told them I wanted to lie on the floor & have them fly it off my chest to see what would happen. (I'm 76; they are 52 & 40, so you can see that we are all in a continued, fun-filled childhood!) My Wife (74 & has grown up, as opposed to the male members of her family) Gasped! But wisely did not argue w/ 3 nut cases.
Upshot - never got around to lying on floor (DRAT!), but sat next to son on couch who flew one around the room, coming close enough to my PM that I had to duck to avoid the rotors. It buzzed right around my head several times w/ no ill effect. Being filled to the gills w/ Christmas turkey, none of us were moving very fast, so it was an exciting time.
They had placed a small toy drum on the floor & were trying to land the little beast atop the drum. Now I understand why they are NOT helicopter pilots for a living. One is a lawyer; the other an Electrical engineer - the world is a better place to live w/ those choices of career.
I'd say that as long as anyone keeps the toys far enough away from baby for its safety from collision, there's no problem, nor would there be any were they to fly it off baby's chest (for helicopters) or drive it off baby's chest (for wheeled devices). This is especially true since the toys have no transmitters in them, just receivers. They do have DC motors, so depending on the strength of the small permanent magnets in the motors, if the devices were sitting directly atop the PM site, they might shift the PM temporarily into TEST mode, as Tracey alluded to.
Enjoy!
Don
Thank you!

Remote control toys are safe for recipients of all ages. When my sons were younger, we spent many hours flying remote contol helicopters and driving cars.
Happy Holidays!
