Hi - I'm wondering how to tell if there is a problem with our leads. I have only had my PM for 3 months and my anxiety has not subsided at all. The more information I collect the better I feel but apparently I don't have nearly enough info to calm myself! I appreciate any and all support-- you are all so very kind and helpful.
Thanks in advance :-)

interrogation

They can tell when they do the regular interrogation. Don't lose sleep over the possibility of a bad lead! Leads last on average 15 years but can last 30 or more, and when they go it's not a big deal to fix it.

Each time your PM is interrogated your leads are checked.
It's easy for them to see if something goes wrong with them.
I've had mine since 1982 and they are still in great shape even though I broke one in 2001 and had it repaired it with a special connector.
Please don't worry about them. If you just do your follow ups as your dr wants, they would discover any problem.
You'd also feel like you did pre PM implant.
Hope this helps,
Best to you,
Gellia
heaviness

For me the feeling went away with time. Scar tissue builds up around it and it gets more secure in the pocket.
heaviness

I am 16 months post pm. Funny things happen when in bed, sleeping , or not sleeping!! (I am a bit of an insomniac!) pm still feels heavy, has moved lots, has done a 90 degree turn; that was in the first 2 months, and twice has has stood up vertically when in bed on left side, somehow my elbow got under it. Yes it still feels heavy, but I am totally used to it and it does not worry me anymore. EP says they are tough and even if they move will still work OK.
Sorry you had to have it as an emergency, mine was too but luckily I was already in hospital, so no big deal for me.
It seems many EPs don't give enough info. I have learned more about pm from this site than anywhere else.
Try not to stress, you will get used to it. It does take time and more for some than others.
Keep us up to date with your progress. all the best.

A question for you about your leads...
by donr - 2012-09-13 07:09:54
...WHY are you worried about your leads? You have asked us the classic "How long is a piece of string?"
Also, you are asking us to add to your collection of knowledge, but have not told us what you know at this point.
There is stress/anxiety for no apparent reason & there is stress/anxiety for some clearly defined reason.
Please give me a few details & I'll give you an answer that hopefully directly addresses YOUR problems.

Big Picture

Give us more clear/detailed information please. Stress/axiety comes in all size and kind of boxes, some are big boxes with one straw in it and others are small boses with bales of hay and bursting at the seams! More information please. Private message if you wish!

I appreciate your quick responses. I have been a bit of a wreck since this all happened. I was actually on vacation and had emergency surgery in a strange hospital with unfamiliar- but excellent- caregivers. I have been feeling pinching and pulling at the PM site and have been imagining all sorts of things. I'm hoping to get used to all of this sooner rather then later!!
Can you tell me if it's normal for the PM to feel heavy when rolling over while sleeping (well not actually sleeping but trying to get comfortable)?
Again-- thank you for responding- it's so nice to hear from you. ;-)
