Ebfox and Pearce talk a lot of sense, take thier advice.
Many people with new PMs have commented that they feel that thier performance seems to have dropped off post implant. There does not seem to be a universal reason for this but PM Settings are generally not adjusted for athletes..more for the 'man in the street'..also there was a good reason why you have one, simply that your heart was not working properly...this is perhaps the tough truth to accept.
I can only offer generalites here, we are all so different.
However, you are here with us and that is a good thing
Take care

Just use common sense

In the time leading up to receiving the pacer and in the weeks afterwards your exercise program will have been somewhat restricted (that is if you followed Dr orders). Like anytime workout intensity drops it is going to take a while to build back up again.
So stick with the pacer arm above shoulder level, and weight restrictions, but otherwise start building your level back up. Keep in mind that you have a whole new cardiac situation brought on by whatever caused your need for a pacemaker, and by its current settings. If you feel anything strange as you pickup level don't try to "push through" it. You may be bumping up against something new and unfamiliar.
There is always the possibility to ask for a treadmill programming session, but not until you break in your new friend.

Talk to Your Doctor

You need to check with your doctor, then go as hard as he says you can. There are lots of runners and triathletes with pacemakers, but make sure your doctor agrees.

I started visiting gym yesterday....it seems that there are no problems regarding my rate and all,,,I check the same with my rate analyzer......and its with in 70 and 130 which is my set rate......but my only confusion is that, will there be complications like Pacemaker migration and like.Anyways I am not feeling tired or dizzy as in the past.......Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Check my story

Hey, check my story I just put in leads and batteries section. Take it into consideration and go from there. For recreationally weightlifting your probably fine. My weightlifting was a bit more intense and the lfits I was doing are not typically gym person lifts.

Just had my PM implanted Wed. Feeling better already but still needs some adjustments. Glad I found this forum and from reading your comments I see that adjustments may take a while. Still taking it easy right now but will walk on Monday. Home care nurse coming Tuesday morning to check me out.
Return for first adjustment on Thursday. This is really exciting because I thought my exercise days were over.
Been an athlete all my life and am 60 now. At least now there's hope. Thanks to you all for helping me feel better already!!
Each situation= unique

Each situation is unique. I've mine since I was 7(17 now) and cant do contact sports/lift weights. But, each situation is unique in itself ASKING your doctor would be the best bet. K? And as someone mentioned doing a treadmill test, yeah sounds like a good idea.

Your body will let you know
by Pearce - 2012-08-09 01:08:05
I have had my pacemaker/defrib for two years and its been exciting. My Dr. told me to do what I normally would do before surgery and my body would let me know...sure enough. After a few months of healing after surgery...I started back to gym and running. I found I was being paced a lot for a high heart rate...pretty uncomfortable so I had to start slow. Things got better as I conditioned.
I still have moments when my Defrib will kick in...pretty exciting. I was playing ping pong...pretty hard playing and right in the middle of the game...bam...I was laid out. I went to the Dr. and they made some adjustments to help and its been wonderful ever since.
The key- communicate with your Dr. on what you are feeling and what activities you plan to tackle. Your body will tell you if something is not right...let the Dr. know because they could adjust something to help.
